    67 c 60 n 40

I just rebuilt my 67 L 79 engine. While apart i noticed that the p/s pump did not have the belt guard installed. So i installed one. Turns out that the alternator belt now hits the guard. I did not check the part number on pump but i have the car 30 years and believe it is original. I have reproduction belts on car. All pulleys look to be in line. Anyone have this problem?

    thanks
    Bill

Yes that's it. Is this a picture of an original guard? The belt is hitting the upper flange. I installed a reproduction piece. I guess it is raised to far away from pump. Without it there is at least 1/4" clearance.

Leif, Nice photo. I never knew about those.

Bill, the repro may not be a exact copy. Maybe you can bend it to fit better.

Rich i bet when both are side by side the repop sits higher or farther away from the pump. ill see what i can do or just leave it off for now. Lief thanks for the photo i will have to keep an eye out for an original. the car has only been judged twice and that was not picked up.

Was the belt guard used on all P/S cars in 1967 or just C-60 equipped.

Just AC cars. I see i paid over $20 for a useless part oh well not the first time. Rich that original closeup on the pump is a mile away from the pulley compared to the repop. I already removed so i can't send a picture. There is no bump up on the mounting brackets.
