Should the flywheel be turned on each clutch replacement? What would stop the flywheel from being turned? Should it be balanced? Is there a advantage when a new one is used?

Re: fly wheel
I do not recommend machined flywheels on any Corvette unless there is absolutely no other option. The clutch system on a Corvette is just too "touchy". After machining a flywheel you may find that clutch adjustment becomes problematic.
What would prevent a flywheel from being machined? If it's already been machined to minimum thickness or if heat cracking cannot be removed by machining.
I always recommend that the flywheel, pressure plate and disc be balanced whenever any replacement or machining occurs.
There's a big advantage to using a NEW OEM spec flywheel. It should always be balanced as described above. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
