I am interested in knowing the distinctions between the stamped Kelsey-Hayes wheel #D-49985, and the KH #D-49986. What was the difference, if any, and which one was earlier, I assume the 49985? Both are the pin mount wheels.

Re: Early P48 wheels, differences?
Mike, Do not know part numbers on the earlier 63 knock offs, but do know that the earlier wheels had a gear drive mechanism, not the typical cone style as we see today. i saw one of these wheels when Tony Avedsain gave a chapter event here in the New England.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Early P48 wheels, differences?
Thanks Edward, these are not the early '63 gear drive models, these are the pin mount ones, but I can't find any references to the K-H D49986 cast part number (they were not stamped for this part number, I misspoke, was thinking of the date) wheels anywhere. A friend claims he has a set, I am going to look at them Monday. I have two sets of the K-H D49985 wheels that came on my '64s.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
