Re: Earlier '66 AC Compressor Questions (Part 2 )

Good Morning and Happy Halloween Everybody,

I'd like to thank everyone of you who've contributed to this discussion of early '66 AC compressors so far. Things are slowly coming together as I've been compiling information on this subject. As shown in this thread, I periodically list my results when there's been a few more additions to the stats.

So, I'm sending out my request to you all once more.

Would owners of any midyear Corvette with air conditioning and especially those from 1966 please chime in to this survey. I've been concentrating listing results of Early '66 Corvette/Chevrolet #6555302 A6 compressors with casting dates of July (G), August (H), September (I), October (J), November (K), and December (L) of '65 for the 1966 production calendar year.

Please chime in with what your car has or any loose compressor that you'd like to report to this thread. I'm storing all this information and will expand the survey into other years when I gather enough data. But so far my request for "Earlier '66 AC Compressor Info" has yielded good results. Sure hoping to hear from you. Thanks! Mike

Re: Earlier '66 AC Compressor Questions

      Mike,
I have read your thread with interest and I will offer some photos that may help with your data base.
My car is a December 15, 1965 A.O. Smith coupe with the C60 option. The compressor is a 6550133, with non-swaged case, and built Nov. 19, '65. I have attached a few both before, and then after, I sent it to Dom to work his fine magic.

Best of all, the system delivers very cold air from the vents on sweltering hot Virginia days.

        Thank you James Moxley!

Your excellent compressor photos are just what we needed.

Now I've got enough new inputs that I can post a fresh version of this survey which is shaping up nicely and beginning to show trends.
Good stuff everyone. Keep it coming!

Oh yeah, today we broke the 2,000 views sound barrier! Thank you!!

Re: Earlier '66 AC Compressor Questions

            Good Morning Guys,

I wanted to flag this TDB formatting issue that I've been having as of late. It seems that my display view defaults to "Hybrid Mode" whenever I log into the forum. You've probably read that I've mentioned Hybrid Mode before. Well with the help of TDB Moderator Don Hooper, I was able to read these threads normally.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I didn't know you can change display settings. Towards the top of each page there is a bar that has 4 choices: "Thread Tools", "Search Thread", "Rate This Thread", and "Display". If you click on "Display there's 3 choices. The one that I need to choose each time I login is "Switch to Linear Mode". Otherwise I'm stuck with "Hybrid Mode which I don't like. It's very difficult to track who posts what in Hybrid Mode.

I'm sure most of you knew this already, but I'm only trying to help.

Anxiously waiting to hear from you guys about your compressors!
            Thanks, Mike

Re: Earlier '66 AC Compressor Questions

Mike- one more tip since you say you default to hybrid mode; click on User Profile in the small tool bar above, then in the left column of that page see My Settings, and My Account, Click on General Settings. In the main part of that page, go down to Thread Display Options, and Thread Display Mode. Click on Linear Newest (or Oldest) first. Don't fail to go to bottom of that page and click Save Changes.

                Thanks Don,

Just set it up this way. Exactly what I wanted to see! Excellent!
