Re: 1959 Corvette Drips Gas, Black Rear Wheelwell Overflow Tube
A bad gas cap would allow gas to get out on right turns when the tank is high, which would then go out the overflow tube at the bottom as you describe. I'd also check the vent hose to make sure it is not clogged as well.- Top

Re: 1959 Corvette Drips Gas, Black Rear Wheelwell Overflow Tube
Jim, Welcome to the C-1 leaking gas phenomenon. I replaced all of the rubber hoses coming from the gas tank but as soon as I filled up the tank with AV gas I could smell fuel in the cockpit, especially on hard turns. I had an original gas cap that had no vent. I found that replacing the gas cap with a new locking cap, that was not vented it all stopped. Original gas cap is only for Flight Judging. Good luck, but the smell of racing fuel in the morning is an addiction I can't overcome.- Top

Problem solved. The overflow tube in the filler cap area and the black overflow tube in the rear wheel well area were plugged up.
It caused enough pressure to make the fuel pump leak. When the tubes were blown out, no problems! With a nearly full tank of gas, no drips, no gas smell inside of car. Yay! Thanks for the help!- Top
