Help identifing a T10. Cast iron case, aluminum tail housing.

I removed this transmission from my 57 Corvette over 20 years ago.
    I know it isn't a 57 T10. But what is it? Is it for a 60 Corvette?
Cleaning out the shop and was wondering if anyone can identify the year or application.
It does have a C1 shift linkage on it. Other than that I know little about its history.
Except is has broken internals, the cluster gear is gone.
That's another story ill leave for another time.
The case is cast iron and the tail-shaft is aluminum.
    Thanks in advance
    Rick

The T-10-1B maincase identifies this as a very late 1959 to very early 1961 T-10. These were used in both Corvettes and passenger cars. The date on the extension housing of 8-15-59 would indicate that this transmission was originally installed in a very early 1960 Corvette or passenger car.

If I am understating correctly the T10's with this casting were built between 1959-60.

However, I cant seem to make and sense of what appears to be the main case date.
The 7-16 or 7-J6 is what got me wondering what the meaning of the additional numbers.

I'm sure it's 7-16 and the dates align quite well. The extension housing was cast on August 15, 1959 and the main case likely on July 16, 1959. That's only a month apart and quite within a normal range. Consider that the extension housing and main case were cast in different foundries. Raw castings were then shipped to the Borg Warner transmission plant, at that time in Muncie, Indiana. I feel quite confident that that plant made no effort, whatsoever, to date-match castings used in the assembly of any particular transmission. So, the different castings used for any transmission could easily be a month apart (or more) with respect to casting dates.

Obviously, the transmission, assuming that it's currently composed of all of its original components, could not have been assembled before August 15, 1959. By that time, 1959 Corvette production was just about ending. So, if this transmission was originally installed in a Corvette, it would have to have been an early 1960 model. However, it could have also been installed in a passenger car and I don't know when all of the 1959 passenger car production ended.
