During my engine rebuild my motor mount bolts were lost and I need to replace them. Not the 2 long bolts but the 6 short bolts that mount the motor mount to the engine block. Can someone tell me what the original ones have on the head? Is it an E with 3 radial lines and they also have lock washers? Any suggestions on source--so far no luck. Thanks Paul

Re: 1971 Motor Mount Bolts to the Engine Block Head Design??
The bolts, GM #3748038, were as you describe. 'ELH' might have been one of the headmarks but I doubt it was the only one. Also, these bolts were GM material grade 275M, not the much more common 280M (SAE grade 5). The 275M bolts have 3 lines arranged in a "T" formation, not the 120 degree apart radial lines as seen in 280M bolts. You may be able to obtain reproductions of the 3748038 from AMK Products. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
