    1964 Convertible Hard Top pricing

Anyone know of a source for a hard top for a 1964 convertible reasonably priced and in decent condition?
    Thanks for any assistance.

Ron, there are some deals to be made on hardtops but the problem being most are in such sad shape and need major restorations. and by the time you finish, it is about 3 to 3.5k to get one done right. The hardtop shop sells completely re-done ones for around the 3.5k range ( inc.s the top). and done nicely. If you have been watching places like Ebay you know what your looking at. my suggestion is you cannot go the refurbished go on Craig's list there sometimes find there way there and if its local a trip may show what pictures sometimes don't. Good luck Ed

I restored my 63 top that I thought was in great shape. I had all of the metal and the rear window just needed to be polished. I painted the interior trim and polished the window. The $$$ to restore the stainless was about $500.00 (lots of dents). The liner, rubber, screws, clips etc was another $700.00. It was $300.00 to paint the top. I'm into the top for about $1500.00. Plus it took me about 3 years to do it, was not a rush.

Saying that, a finished top to install and use for $3000.00 might not be that bad.

          Ronald,

I have a '64 top that needs restoring. I can get you some pictures if you are interested.

Location/shipping might be an issue - I am near Jacksonville Florida.

          Regards,

          Jon

Ron years ago I was in a rush to buy a top. I bought I nice one for 1250$ from a corvette shop in the Midwest. 250$ to ship and 300 $ for new weather stripping. It was the wrong color but I did not care about the color. 2 months later I go to carlysle and there are tops of every color condition and cost. So I wished I had waited and bought one there.

As another data point, my '67 C08 hardtop from Glassworks (The Hardtop Shop) arrived two weeks ago, after a 15 month wait. It was a fully restored outright purchase. I was quoted a year originally but it stretched out to 15 months.

It is a work of art and I'm very happy with the quality and fit. If you want a perfect top (maybe even better than original) that would be the way to go. I just don't know if I would go through the wait time again. 15 months could be a lifetime at my age.
