    The problem with assuming......

These are a pair of original GM 70-72 door pulls, installed on a 71. When I went to reinstall them, I assumed that R was for right, and L for left. Not these! They clearly fit the opening and the contour of the door panels incorrectly.

There's a reason for this. The GM handles are applicable not only to 1971 Corvettes but also to all 1965-77. There were a few part number changes over the years but all the handles are, basically, interchangeable. However, on 1965-66 models the handles are reversed compared to 1968-77. So, whats left side for 1965-66 is right side for 1968-77 and what's right side for 1965-66 is left side for 1968-77.

By the way, GM never supplied the studs with these handles.

The 65 application for this grab handle does not have a stud. It is a pan head Phillips screw on both ends. I can’t see how it could be a stud and install it....... gotta be a screw. By the way it can be difficult to get at the screw and get it started as everything is blind.
