i just bought a late March 67 coupe that appears to have an original type 3 jack but it is undated. When did GM start date coding 67 jacks?

John - Congrats on your '67 coupe. While the starting date for coding is important, another question is
John - Congrats on your '67 Corvette. Another important question is "is when did the dated jacks start showing up in the production Corvettes." Hopefully, there are some folks out there with cars that can provide some answers to your question. Unfortunately, I can't since we have a Sept.

For NCRS judging, there is a "six month rule" that says a part can be dated up to six months prior to the assembly date of the car. Since your car was assembled only three months after GM started putting dates on the jack, an undated jack made between three and six months prior to when your car was assembled would still meet the NCRS guidelines for an acceptable "date."
You might have to remind the judges of this if they make a deduction for a missing date, but I am 99% certain that an experienced team leader would support this interpretation of the judging rules.- Top
