    Judging Missing Z4Z Decals

My wife is having her '98 Indy Pace Car (RPO Z4Z) judged in Lakeland. There is a total of 20 decals that make up the kit for this option. The car is missing 3 of these decals: two that apply the "Official Pace Car" lettering over the big door panel decals and the yellow "CORVETTE" windshield decal. The decals are all described in the TIM&JG under section 2 of Exterior, "Body Paint." The Standard Deduction for paint does not address the decals directly. How will the missing 3 of 20 decals be scored?

There are repros of these decals available but she would rather take the deduction at this time and continue searching for unused originals.

    Thanx

Floyd, I do not have the judging sheets but I'll take a guess with some assumptions. If the 20 decals are worth 20 points. Then your deduction is 6 points. 3 as they are missing and 3 for condition. Can't judge condition if they are not there.

      Harry,

In the TIM&JG, the decals are described in the Body Paint section. As we all know, body paint is a standard deduction item. The scoring sheet for body paint has:

      2. Body Paint
      Originality: 45 Condition: 40 Total: 85
45 40 Deduct for Excessive Orange Peel, Run, or Roughness

There is nothing that indicates how many points are to be assigned to the decals.

The odds of finding unused originals are quite small at best.

I would call Phoenix Graphic, install the repros for now and then if you ever get originals you can think about swapping them out.

          Floyd,

Rather than speculate, address your question to National 1997-1999 Team Leader, Allen Tremain (listed under "Contacts" above).

This appears to be the same problem as the anniversary C-3 that had the decals rolled up in a cardboard container. If they were missing
from the container that was one problem. If they were installed on the car, I understand there was a deduct for a non-factory item on the
exterior paint at the time of flight judging. TEAM LEADER PROBLEM !!!
