Trim Tag 1965

Well here goes ... got to get in the door with a correct trim tag to be judged.
How does the attached look?
Did some research about the "teeth" in the "C" of Chevrolet and the centering of the "M" and the "H"
This tag appears to have both.

Anybody see anything that "Jumps" at you?

Typical production trim tags have the paint code below the 1st and 3rd digits of the body number instead of the 2nd and 4th digit. In my registry, I have bodys 4467,4445,4910, 4930,5287 are all showing this configuration. This covers VINS, 14008,14276,15391,15404, and 16517. You will noticed the indents in the tag. Factory installation of the tag usually does not have the indentation.

Body build date looks correct as 4467, and 4445 are also H24.

The pins in the rivets don’t look right. When ever I see that the possibility arises does this tag belong on this car.

I'm kind of late to the party, but here are a couple of photo's of my A.O. Smith trim tag on my '65 coupe VIN 2209x. Sorry but IO can't get the photos to upload in the correct orientation.

Morning Jim, better late than never.... MY research shows with A.O. Smith bodies in 65, the body build number started under the dash, then moved 1 space to the right in the middle of production, then back under the dash around VIN 18,000. Thanks.

Sorry, having a senior moment...can you explain what you mean? Does the body build number actually begin down one line and below the dash that is between the A and the number?

Sorry, the paint code is what I meant that is under the body build number. The original post had the paint code farther right than normally seen.

My 65 AO Smith car is VIN 5756 and has the paint code starting to the right of the dash.

It looks like AO Smith moved the paint code numerous times during the production run. on VIN 56, paint code started under the A, then 1104-4251, started under the dash. Then your car starts under the first number. 16861 is back starting under the dash, and it looks to have stayed at the position the rest of production.

E22 is the body build date.
