    "Cotan" material

In the subject line of a '50s Work Order, there is a recital regarding the use of "Cotan" material in regard to an interior of a project/
demonstrator early Corvette. The term "Cotan" seems to want to make Google turn itself inside out, expecially when you inform it that you do NOT mean "cotton". I don't have the full WO so am unable to glean further info - ideas?

    Re: "Cotan" material

    Hi Loren,

I cast one vote for a typo of the word cotton.

(1)Because I can't find anything on "cotan" either.
(2)Because they are talking about interior parts.

Back in my graduate school science and math days, I knew well what cotan was, but it had nothing to do with interiors........

Loren, check out Wikipedia, it lists the material as a mineral used to extract various elements in capacitors for cell phones.
Hope this gives you a lead.

Bravo to Nicholas and Jack! And Boos and Hisses to those who thought that I and the General's clerks responsible for WOs had overstayed our welcome at Happy Hour(s). The news (or the price) must not have been good - there was no follow-up WO. Not the only dead-end found and explored by the General at this time, but what a time it was - One Year away from the introduction of the 1955 Chevrolet! As Russ Sanders said "It was a dammed good time to be an Engineer at Chevrolet.".

LOL... and if one were to partake in said Happy Hour(s), what was the beverage of choice?

A bourbon manhattan or a Black Jack, both on the rocks, would receive studied attention and celebration.

If we ever meet, I'll be happy to buy you a 'Happy Hour' drink.

Sounds like the start of a long "Happy Hour" - Scottsdale Regional May '18 or Vegas.

And now to the official meeting of "cotan", as revealed by the "keeper of the secrets", Mr. David Bartush. DB has supposedly provided a copy that I could directly provide to you folk, if only he were aware of the gaps in my computerize background.
Suffice it to say that it stems from Bulletin D-1982, dtd March 25, 1955, and dealing with exterior, interior and softtop colors. The operative language appears in paragraph 3 and reads:

"All Corvette tops will now be fabricated out of a new vinyl-coated canvas material called Cotan.".
