69 L46 intake manifold dating question

Trying to help a friend who has a late 69 that is quite original mechanically. His a December 69-built car (371xx) and it has a 3927184 intake dated late 1968. He has been trying for some time to find a later intake (with no success) because he has been told his is incorrect. I know there have been issues with intakes (67 300 hp, eg) where there are significant gaps between intake date and engine assembly. Have there been similar gaps/lead time with 3927184 intakes? The JG, Colvin, Bizzoco make no mention of such gaps.

Mike, are you absolutely positive it's 1968 date? A lot of times the 9 can look like an 8 because of casting irregularities.

Can you post a picture of the date code?

Ed, it is an 8. I appreciate your input, but have been looking at casting dates on blocks, heads, intakes, etc. for about 45 years. If the casting was questionable, i would have included that. It is an 8. K 1 8.

I had an August water pump on my mid-June 71, and crazy things happen on these cars. If he's sure that it is original I wouldn't change it.
