    1963 seat track installation

The JM states that the 1964 front seat tracks were bolted directly to the floor not over the carpet. It does not address the 1963 tracks and the JM pictures of the carpet do not have cut outs for the track. Am I safe in thinking that the 1963 front track is bolted over the carpet?
    Thanks

Jeff, 63's are bolted directly to the floor. The 63 carpet has a unique cut that results in a flap that folds back over the bolts. If I can find a picture tomorrow I'll post it.

Here's a pic of an earlier 63 with the floor recess. This is from an original 63. For real!

OK, I don't have ax to grind here. I am getting ready for judging and don't want "lose simple to fix points" even 1 or 2. Why did the JM only address the 64's. I know none of you wrote the JM but you have to admit it is the " best info available"

Jeff, "best info available" would apply in ONLY ONE context; that would be in a case where no long term knowledgable judges are looking at your car, the manual would represent your best approach to a high score - that result would be obtained because the lack of those judges would prevent those judges from scoring the area properly. The problems with the 63-4 manual go back to the '80s, post the Kibbe team '61-2 manual conversion, to a manual submitted by Joe Clark, BY HIMSELF, to the exclusion of other team member's opinions and ignored by the NCRS upper echelon. Since then, the motto has been "Never admit that we don't have a source for that opinion.". Sorry, but some of us know where the bodies are buried. Bolt it to the fiberglass - but ask the judges why the manual reads that way.

Jeff, I had my 63 Coupe at the 2016 National and the carpet was cut as JR pictured, no deductions.
