Re: 65 interior blue paint colors compared to 67

The painted blue 65 interior parts are Nassau blue with a flattened agent on the dash and front lower windshield surround. The others don’t have flattened agent and are unbuffled lacquer. The 67 marina blue is a different color not used in 65. Your “low gloss dark bright blue and low gloss bright blue” are meaningless descriptions. You should be using number specifications on the trim tag to get proper color match.

Gene, thanks for your reply. I may have confused the issue by providing discriptions of the interior paint, instead of paint codes. My second attachment discusses three specific Ditzler paint codes that were apparently used in 65 interiors. In my third attachment the specific paint codes for 67 interiors are discussed. Maybe I should have referred to the specific Ditzler paint codes (instead of descriptions). I believe I copied the information in the second attachment from a TDB post by Wayne Midkiff, but now I can't find the actual post. I was hoping for some discussion of these three paint codes, in comparison to the three paint codes for 67 interiors.

Daniel, the Ditzler formulas from 50 years ago are only going to get you an approximate match at best, I had a lacquer mixing bank at my shop in the 70s and even then the colors required custom formulation and several spray outs to get an acceptable match. Get a sample of the part you want to match, possibly the fiberglass dash under your dash pad, and have it custom matched. That will be the same color for your console. Most any shop with a mixing machine should be able to match it in urethane. If you want lacquer, there was a shop mentioned in a recent thread that custom mixed some lacquer for a 65, possibly Color Rite. There are not many shops that custom mix lacquer anymore.

Not sure if this could possibly help... in this image, interior color chip 13071 comes from a 1966 Corvette (lower left corner):

Thanks Stewart. Let me explore that path.

The GM number 414 and the FF code should be all you need to get the Lacquer paint mixed.

I have Nassau blue RM lacquer at home (not there now). There is a # on can. As I recall it was derived from the 414 and FF.

Check but I might be all wet the GM package for your year car (65) has these color paint codes for a bunch or paint manufactors as I recall.
