C2 dash lights

The dash lights on my 67 convertible seem dim so I removed one bulb to check the voltage. It was 10.6. The voltage at the battery was 12.1. The engine was off. The bulbs are original. I suspect a problem with the headlight switch. What do you think?

Did you rotate the headlight switch knob back and forth?

Randy, I have seen this issue before and what I find is the after market switches do not have the same voltage output at the rheostat.

The headlight switch is original. Is it possible that the voltage drop is due to a dirty switch?

I recently took my original headlight switch out of the car and disassembled it. I cleaned it throughly with Deoxit D and reassembled it. It made a difference in the brightness of the dash lights.

Thank you for the replies. I removed the switch and cleaned it. The lights are now brighter.

DeOxit is what you want to use for such things....a good shot in the harness connector as well as the headlight switch should help..

Frank, Have you ever used CRC QD Electronic Cleaner? The can states clean and protects sensitive electronic equipment.

I have not....I stick with the DeOxit - its all I use for 'contact cleaner'...
