Re: Got $8 for dues?
That summer (1975) when I came to visit my parents in Lincoln. I spent a couple of hours with him, and at the end, he asked me what was the first Restorer I received. When I told him 1:4, he went to his walk-out basement, and a couple of minutes later, he came out with copies of Vol. 1 nos. 1,2,3. As a gift. He didn’t think he would ever get rid of all of those! I cherish those now well-worn copies.- Top

Re: Got $8 for dues?
Mike,
i have a friend who is member 775. If I recall correctly his first Restorer was 2#2. To bad the older paper copies are in such low demand. They were very collectible until the Internet took over. I've never seen that Introduction letter from Tom Essig. Neat piece. Thanks for sharing.- Top

Re: Got $8 for dues?
Dave,
Mike can probably provide what his original member number was.
Prior to 1992 there were multiple numbers. Most were based on the year you joined and the number joined that year.
In 1992, when automation was introduced, new sequential numbers were implemented.
However, some numbers were reassigned such as number 4 went to Noland Adams even though he wasn't one of the original 7 founding members.

Re: Got $8 for dues?
another example of membership # re-assignment: dan gale joined NCRS in '81 yet was given a double digit membership # when the guys in Cincinnati reassigned numbers. I have no clue as to what my original membership # was, it could be 14 or whatever. but I still have the cancelled check dated June of '74 when my wife sent in our $8 dues.getting back to the original post, rumor has it that the good reverend mike withdrew 8 bucks from the collection plate to pay his initial dues. mike- Top
