After having struggled with numerous problems associated with the fuel injection unit on my 62 Corvette over the past 3 years, I had the opportunity to have Jerry Bramlett in Mobile, AL go through the system. I took the FI unit, distributor, ballast resistor, and coil to his shop. On day 1 he lapped all the surfaces and completely rebuilt the unit. He had all the parts and gaskets in stock. On day 2 he put it on HIS 62 Corvette and did 6 dyno runs to tune it from idle to 5500 rpm. We then test drove his car on the street and it performed flawlessly. I couldn't be more impressed or more pleased with the work he did. His expertise is second to none!

Yes, here is Jerry's contact info. He has a lot of information on his website so you may want to look at that first.

Re: 57-65 Fuel Injection
There are numerous people that work on these units. For my money there are only two that are expert. They would be Jerry B and John D. Have spoken with both and what is really nice is tgey are open and willing to share info with us fuelie owners so we can pretend to be good at it.John Seeley

Re: 57-65 Fuel Injection
Hello NCRS Forum. I'm a fairly new member. A local Corvette collector has a 65 Fuelie that he is willing to sell. He knows I'm looking to purchase my first "classic" Corvette but I hesitate to venture into the fuel injected arena because I know that, as my NCRS Judge/Friend says, "It takes someone very familiar with Fuelies to tune them, they also require high octane to run properly."
I keep 93 octane (special ordered with NO ethanol) on hand for my 2018 Grand Sport but I don't know if that is high enough for a 1965.
I have a couple of questions:
What is the preferred octane range for fuel injected C2's?
I would also need to find out if it is a real fuelie. As my friend pointed out, "There were only 771 in 1965. And does it have its original injector? There is a guy that tracks all the Fuelies. Can't remember his name, just ask on the NCRS forum."
Can you guys help me out to locate the gentleman that tracks all the fuel injected cars?
Thanks.- Top

Re: 57-65 Fuel Injection
Assuming this '65 fuelie is at factory specification, it's probably best to run somewhere around 100 octane racing fuel. I use 100 octane LL aviation fuel, and mine runs very well. It'll probably run on 93 octane with ethanol, but surely not the best. Correct fuel injection units and engines are usually not difficult to verify, but it can be another story to prove that the engine and fuel injector unit is original to the car, as it came from the factory. There's an old list of VIN numbers and fuel injection serial numbers in the Noland Adams book. Here is one site that keeps track. jim@vettefinderjim.com- Top
