Could someone provide us with a picture of how the turn signal wires route through the steering column?

Re: Turn Signal Wiring Diagram
Do not have a picture for you, but can describe by memory. Down through the tubular housing until the rectangular outlet. Out the rectangular housing, retained by the s-shaped retainer that has a tab that inserts into the rectangular hole and attaches to the housing with one screw. Outside the column the rest of the way down to the female connectors from the other wiring harness. Hope that helps.- Top

Yes the ribbon harness comes out of the directional switch hub then goes into the hole under the column first. This hole will be covered by the hub. Then the harness is inside the column tube and comes out the hole where the harness cover is. I should add that you want to pull the harness a bit snug before tightening the cover screw to minimize the chances of the wires getting rubbed bare by the steering shaft.
A few pictures of a '57 under the dash. Note in 2nd picture the harness should be a bit higher where the cover is so it doesn't get pinched.
Here are some pictures I just found of the column holes showing where the harness enters and exits. The last one will be covered by the hub.
