    Re: 67 300hp engine markings?

Very nice car! Several items to note on this thread: 1) Grease pencil markings on the head were not on every motor. I see restorers who see a specific marking on an unrestored car, and duplicate it automatically. There were certain givens, and many not. Reminds me of 30 years ago when there was a 62 FI unit with a "pressure tested" stamp on it. Suddenly many restored 62 units showed up with that stamp. Rochester did not pressure text every unit, only one every so often. 2) Attached is a photo of a 67 300hp with AIR block marking. This may be the only marking that is the same upside down, right side up, and mirror image. (HH) 3) There were additional paint markings on the side of the block, along with the grease pencil, that were covered over by the orange paint. I would really like to know what those were and what they denoted!

Yes, I am very familiar with that car. I remember that it had the original interior. Congrats on owning such a rare 67. In fact had it been kinda promised to Steve it may still be in Utah. Enjoy!

John, my wife's 67 also had the HO on the head and upside down on the passenger side of the block. Covered with years of oil and grease. And wouldn't you know it, i forgot to put them back on several weeks ago, when I re-installed the engine and PG transmission. It would not be worth the effort to remove the AC bracketry to write the HO now. I've never seen the Flint label placed on the lower LH side of the passenger side VC as yours, but I think, if you repaint the engine assy., I would place it back in the same location, since you have documentation. I believe in not changing anything that you can document as original on the cars just to meet the "cookie pattern" of the majority of the cars and the judging manual. My $2 worth.
