    62 stamped date

    1962 I have a build date 04/16 with a casting date of 03/28
    on a 62
    is this possible?

    seems reasonable. . i assume the casting date is 3 28 2, not 3 28 62. mike

        Fo328RD isn't the cast date, its the machine assembly date. casting date embossed on pass side of block on bell housing flange of block. mike

          Roger,
          Back up a bit. Build date of what? If that is of the car, it is a best guess—usually within a day or two.
          If F0328RD, that is the build date (usually referred to as the assembly date) of the motor at Flint.
          That gap (from March 28 to approx. April 16) is not an inordinate gap. Very acceptable.
          Would be interested in knowing the casting date on your block. As Mike said, on right rear near where bellhousing attaches.
