Thanks I have questioned myself over and over but my budget or lack of will probably be the decision maker as well as my wife input on getting the bathroom done first

If she is willing to help on the bathroom then she should be willing to help on the car. A worker always needs a goffer and an extra set of hands. Do the bathroom first, it will take less time and keep peace in the barnyard. Just remember "Happy Wife, Happy Life" but also remember that should be a two way street!

        - what is the red line on the tach? If 6750 RPM (I think, my memory may not be what it used to be), then it was either FI or 2 X 4.
Thanks for your information - I did look at the tack and it has a red line about 5300 RPM so I guess it was a 230 hp?

Your response is what I was looking for - it it worth it to go through all the work to make it period correct or just get it on the road so I can enjoy it. Thanks

Probably best to read all the info to clarify just what feature resulted in the use of a different Tachs... see Noland Adams book on pages 252 and 275. It will also point out differences in needle shape that could indicate a specific year 58 - 60.....
But as Daniel L points out, anyone could have changed out the tach at any time.... so it is a crap shoot depending on how much confidence you can get as to if things have been messed with. In my case, I have had the car since 1970. Back then, nobody cared about originality or matching numbers on a 10 year Corvette that was not very desirable (1960's were considered nothing special in that era).

My tach is not as Noland suggests for a 1960 corvette - he says the tach should go up to 6000 mine goes to 7000 but all the other characteristics match his 500 to 2000 pale green with the signal green to up to 5000 then orange to 5300 then red from 5300 to 5500, from 5500 to 7000 is black where he says should be light green? I looked on line at several website and see all 1960 tachs going to 7000, mine seems to match a late 60/61 corvette that are advertised. Bottom line I guess the engine was a 230 or 245.

                      Daniel,

The prefix "C" on the NJ title means that there have been 4 previous owners. When the initial title is issued (first owner) there is no prefix letter. All subsequent owners have a letter added, starting with A then B then C etc.

You have a big job ahead as you need everything weather you go the originality route or resto mod driver type. Kinda a difference of restoration vs recreation. Being you need just about everything you should ask yourself what kind of car it is that you want. Then focus on that path. My automatic thought would be to make just a streetable driver devoid of all the expensive originate parts and use replacement pieces unless cost is not a factor.

Thanks, cost is a factor I am figuring on about 40k I hope I can due it justice my plan is to make a good looking driver with parts that mimic that even though they may not be period correct unless I can by them for the same price as others I must say the support on this website is amazing thanks
