Re: 64 Washer Pump Plunger
Look at the back of the new plunger. You should see a small metal ring. The old plunger has the same ring. Grab the old plunger and rotate about 90 degrees and this should release the metal clip from the plunger arm. When you install the new plunger, insert and rotate 90 degrees to hold it tight.
Good luck.

Re: 64 Washer Pump Plunger
For me the removal was easy when done as Harry says. I tried to install the new plunger with no success. Finally replaced the entire pump. I suspect the replacement plungers do not hold the notched plate stationary and it rotates as you try to install it.- Top

Re: 64 Washer Pump Plunger
Dave,
I was having the same issue with the new plunger until a fellow NCRS buddy told me to take the cover off (the one with the two holes in it) and manipulate the piston to the forward position. Once I did that the new plunger was much easer to get on. It is impossible if that piston is all the way recessed.

Thanks for the tip. I never thought of that but it makes perfect sense. I guess I thought it would be easy and never really thought it through.- Top

Re: 64 Washer Pump Plunger
I just did this on my 64. With the motor/pump still on the car, I just removed the (3) hoses first, then the (4) little bolts and removed the plastic manifold. The diaphragm came right out. I only replaced the diaphragm and put it back together. Works just fine.- Top
