Looking for advice on proper windshield install. I know there is prior discussion about this but still looking for some advice. My car is a convertible and I currently have the 11 clips along the bottom. Is it best to put the lower trim piece on first then set the windshield? What is the proper procedure? I sill have a hard time understanding the use of the nylon cord, 3M bedding and glazing sealant and where this goes and when.

Re: C2 windshield installation; does lower trim piece go in before windshield??
I'm no expert on this but did install one on my 63 and it went in easily. The rope or cord goes around the perimeter on the windshield with the ends centered in the middle of the window. Set the bottom of the windshield onto the birdcage of the car then with someone gently applying pressure from the outside pull the cord and work your way around the window. The gasket will slip over the flange around the birdcage as you work the cord around the perimeter. You should remove the lower trim. This will not be a water tight assembly with out placing glazing sealant completely around the perimeter. The factory used plenty of it they also installed a black sealant between the glass and the rubber gasket.- Top

Re: C2 windshield installation; does lower trim piece go in before windshield??
Does the glazing sealant go around the outside or inside? Does it go right on the gasket? When you say black sealant; I assume it is different then the the glazing sealant and it sounds like this goes on the edge of the glass prior to placing rubber gasket on? Am I understanding this correctly?- Top

Check the Chevrolet Service manual, it has detailed instructions. I like to put the lower trim on first. Use the best moulding clips, LI or Paragon would have them.- Top
