    Mel,
Either Long Island Corvette or Paragon, to answer your question. May I ask one? Why stainless steel? Pretty tough to get a good seal on the fittings and certainly not as pliable. Your original line has lasted 52 years and I bet once your finished with your car, it will not see the same type of "all weather" use it did in it's prior life.

As I've said many times before, I LOVE stainless steel. I like it better than gold or platinum. I'd much rather have a stainless steel watch than a gold or platinum. I love stainless steel lined brake calipers. I love stainless steel exhaust. I love high strength stainless steel bolts (e.g. ARP). However, as much as I love it, I don't like it for brake or fuel lines. Getting a good seal at flared joints is just too problematic. TBW steel lines are going to look fine and last FAR longer than you're ever going to need them.

Mel, try FINE LINES or RIGHT STUFF. They both manufacture the lines in both SS and conventional materials. Depending where you live, it might be worthwhile to do a local pickup, or arrange to pickup at a show where they have a booth, because the long lines are typically bent to accommodate shipping......

Brake lines are a double flare. If they are made correctly with correct flare they shouldn’t leak. High quality equipment is required to flare stainless. Using the typical flaring tools is not going to give satisfactory results. Buy high quality parts from supplier that knows what they are doing is essential. Stainless is harder then typical steel lines. Once installed they should NEVER have to be replaced again.

My self and friends have used stainless brake lines and none have had leak issues. Also be sure to spec stainless fittings and always use new brass connection blocks. The seat of the flare needs a virgin brass seat to work leak free. I can see where others that reuse the old brass have problems since the seat was previously upset.

              Re: ss lines

I purchased the pump to bowls fuel line in stainless from a very well known supplier of everything needed for the restoration of one's Corvette. The shop doing the work has extensive experience and a great reputation for their restoration work. Try as they might, they could not get the line to seal. I queried the vendor who, not quite in so many words, told me to get a life. They made no effort to resolve the problem, tho they did acknowledge that getting stainless lines to seal appropriately was difficult. To not disclose this known problem in their product description is reprehensible.

I've used SS lines on 3 restoration projects across GM and MOPAR, both fuel and brake, without a problem. As Gene stated, new brass blocks etc. should be used. I purchased the lines from RIGHT STUFF; fit was perfect.....

The gas line on my 64 from tank to fuel pump is stainless, however, it has rubber hoses at both ends, so no problems with sealing.
