    Re: 67 engine judging question

    Thomas,
My first thoughts about the sticker placement mirrored yours regarding the AC compressor hiding the sticker if on the front of the vc. This car is an AC, PG, base motor car produced on 3/31/67 so it's a later vin number. A running change that was hand placed on the line would make sense but the engine was assembled in Flint and the sticker says "Flint #1". I can't see the St Louis guys caring enough to manually place a sticker so that it "could be seen".

HO is 300hp with PG, apparently with and without AC. So would the engine plant know if this engine was destined for an AC car, in order to place the sticker on the left VC?
Looking at the photos again, it looks like the sticker is towards the rear of the right valve cover, not on the left valve cover as I originally thought.

Yes, it's on the RH VC but just not on the front per JG but toward the back on the outer side. If this sticker was indeed STL applied, then the AC compressor would have been in the way and application further back would be understandable. The question to be answered is "was the sticker only applied at Flint when the engine was assembled" and "could have Flint anticipated the HO engine having AC thus obscuring their "vanity" sticker placement "?
I have decided to replace it in the found position and I will have pics to back up my decision.
