59 Inside door edge question - two holes??

    Hi,

Wondering if someone could take a look at the picture below and tell me what I'm missing with respect to the two holes on my door edges.

I believe the upper larger hole should be filled with dum dum putty but it's a really large hole and wondering if it was normally that large or if it's been enlarged over the years.

I'm not sure what the small hole is for or if it should be filled also with dum dum putty?

Was the dum dum putty put on on after or before paint?

    Thanks.

The small hole is for draining rain water out of the door. Large hole has been made and enlarged by a PO apparently to gain easier access to the door hinge bolt.

Yes the small hole is a drain, the big hole was for access to window end post, filled with dum dum after paint booth, but was usually touched up on the trim line with matching color.
