This came out of a 1963 as a spare and having some confusion trying to date code it. First pic shows a code JP0535B on the inboard side of the tire and it appears to be the only code that resembles a date code on the tire, but DOT does not precede the code nor is DOT anywhere near it. It is a Goodyear Power Cushion Polyglas F78-15 and the rubber is as hard as a rock. Not suggesting that it is an original spare, but the information that I have found to decode the date so far doesn't seem to make any sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1968/1969 time frame the tire companies started using a DOT standard tire code format.
Before DOT, somewhere in mid 1960's some of the tire companies started using a type of standardized format. Previously, all the tire codes were proprietary. Which requires a lot of Internet searching to find tire codes.
Attached is a Goodyear document which might provide some insight for you.
