Re: AIR systems on 1972 LT1
As I understand it. ALL LT-1's had the AIR system. You would see from the Corvette Oder Copy (tank sticker). What about your exhaust manifolds? Do they have the holes to support the air horns (the could have been replaced if not)?Jack Corso

You would have to find someone with an assembly manual for the engine. Unicorns and the Loch Ness monster are probably easier to find.

Re: AIR systems on 1972 LT1
Robert-----Nice to see a quick response from a LT1 owner. I also thought all LT1’s had the AIR system, but VetteFacts.com as well as Motorera.com say that the only difference between Engine Code CKY and Engine Code CRT is the AIR system on CRT.
Well, the tank sticker from my LT1 looks a bit like an old treasure map: not much left of it. The exhaust has been replaced and there are no holes in the manifolds. Now these manifolds are numbered GM 3797901, which differs from what the guide says. Probably replaced as well. I’m afraid there has been tangled with my LT1.
Now I’m very curious about the differences between the Codes CKY and CRT.
I think that someone got AIR confused with air conditioning. 1972 was the only year that the LT-1 engine was available with air conditioning. I believe that "CKY" is the suffix code for the standard LT-1 engine. I think that "CRT" is the code for the LT-1 engine equipped with air conditioning. The latter engine was configured a bit different than the former and, thus, the need for the different suffix codes. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: AIR systems on 1972 LT1
Just to clarify the the above quote, the base engine (200 HP) not sold in California did NOT have the AIR
