    Window Stickers

This may be a dumb question, but who and when were the window stickers applied to the passenger side window.

    Re: Window Stickerss

    Ed,
Window stickers were applied to the inside of the DRIVERS window in 1966. Not sure about other years. Stickers were applied toward the end of the assembly process, not sure exactly where. Mr. Hinkley can answer this better than I can. Bill

      Re: Window Stickerss

      Bill,
Thanks for the reply. I said that the sticker was on the passenger side, but really cant remember for certain. The main reason I asked the question, was in a resent discussion, I indicated that the window sticker on my 67, when dealer delivered to me, Reedman Chev was not on the top of the sticker and it looked like it was blocked out. I just assumed that the car was delivered to another dealer and they did not want the final buyer to know. Which posed the question, if the dealer applied the sticker or was it applied in S Louis?

        Re: Window Stickerss

at one time, i had a pass door glass with its window sticker still attached. it was a yenko delivered to grady davis 66 white 425 hp roadster which gulf oil race prepped it right off the showroom floor. that's how the window sticker and the willow run sticker remained on the door glass when dr don blatchley gave me all the parts gulf oil gave him when he purchased the 66. both stickers were sloppily glued to the inboard side of the glass and the mucilage for both stickers appears to be the same product, based on color at the time i got the glass and other parts from blatchley. since the willow run sticker appeared to be applied at the same time the window sticker was applied, i have to assume that both stickers were done at st louis. the window sticker and the old race car have been reunited and the car is undergoing a restoration. mike

Not certain if this will help, Ed... just referencing a few of the Assembly Manuals that I have.
As far as I know, if it was listed in the AIM, it should have been done at the St Louis factory.
          Your mileage may vary...

I may as well chime in for C1 window sticker placement (those that had them) . . . here's what one looked like on a 1962:

This is a photo of the original window sticker from my 67, as you can see the dealer name is missing from the top of the sticker. If the sticker was formatted at S Louis it would have to know the purchasing dealer and would appear on the sticker. As you can see the dealer name is deleted. Am I missing something

                Hello Ed,
I looked at the photo to read the zone and dealer number 35-017
                Reedman Motors
The guy who prep the car for delivery did a sloppy job to remove the sticker off the glass.
                Regards,
                Drew Papsun

                  Hey Drew,
The dealer did not remove the sticker, that sloppy removal was done by me. No excuses, but I had to remove the sticker before I drove it home, and this was way before history in corvettes were a major importance. This was a daily driver and I am lucky I saved it at all. Thanks for all the reply's, as this answered my question.

We have an original owner 5 Star bow tie 70 LT-1, and the window sticker was never affixed to the window. I would imagine that the dealer would apply during prep. The sticker still has the bottom tear off as well.

That depends on how early in the model year your Corvette was produced.

For early cars the window sticker was mailed to the dealer so they could not sell new models before the official model year introduction date. There are other features that make "early" window stickers unique also.

Later in the model year the window sticker was affixed at the assembly plant.

Terry, ours is in the early 8k for serial number and not sure where the change happened between mail and plant affixed. You have seen a copy of the window sticker at least once. Its the twin to your car that was at Bloomington 2016.

I don't know where the change occurred either. 1970 is a peculiar model year anyway, so the change there is not necessarily reflective of the change in other MY. 8xxx sounds a long way into production to me, but WTFDIK. I don't remember the details of your window sticker -- probably wouldn't remember it for the Bloomington just past either unless we had that discussion there last week. Can you PM me a picture?

The "Stark" window sticker is an amazing document, crisp as a new bill.

1959 was the first year of WINDOW STICKERS. I have seen two examples of originals.
