    74 Headlight Actuator Question

    Hi All -

Looking to clear up a question. Looking in the 74 judging manual it states the actuators had a red dot adjacent to the nipple and a black serial number stamped on them as well. Mine look original as if never removed but have no number or red dot. My drivers side actuator has a green crayon mark - passenger side no mark.

Just wondering if some maybe didn't have the dot and number?

    Thank you,
    Vic

    Hey Vic,

Here is a shot of the the driver's side vacuum actuator of my very original 19,000 mile '74. As you can see it has a faint red dot at the hose extension, a letter "A" and a green paint stick marking in the form of a "U." I am wonder if your green marking is similar to this and if anyone knows the significance of it.

Not all of them had the red dot, or numbers. So, do not be dismayed by the fact that you don't find them.

        Re: 74 Headlight Actuator Question

        Vic,

In my opinion, Patrick is absolutely correct. My passenger side actuator which is known to be original has no markings whatsoever and I believe the the judging manual which is presently being rewritten will simply indicate that some actuators have the dots and stampings. I am assuming that there would be no deduction for an actuator with no markings.

I put the date and red dot on my restored cars. Not all judge will agree.
