1966 Front Stabilzer Bar

My 66 is equipped with a 427 (NOM) and it rides kind of stiff. I measured the front stabilizer bar and it is 1" thick. What size stabilizer bar could be installed to "soften" the ride somewhat?

Is is possible that your car has the heavy duty suspension? Count the leafs in your rear spring. If there are 7 leafs, you have the heavy duty suspension and your car should be more stiff. If you have 9 leafs, you have the base suspension. Springs and stabilizer bars get switched quite often on these old cars and the 1" bar you have may or may not be original along with the springs. Figure out what you have to start and then you can decide what changes you would like to make. It could be nothing more than and change of shocks.

The bar would only affect ride on one wheel bumps. Standard OE big block front bar is 7/8" and F-41 is 15/16" and both have a 9/16" rear bar. Do the springs look OE or aftermarket? Base rear spring is 9-leaf, F-41 is 7. What shocks are installed?
