I know I had found this info a while back but I can't find it in the archives again. Anyone know what the clearance for the clutch to pulley gap? Thanks!

If my recollection is right one has to use brass, or non-magnetic, feeler gauges. They ought not be too hard to find, but not in most folks tool boxes.Terry- Top

Peter is correct in that the final gap will be between .022 - .057 after the retaining nut is installed. To clarify; when installing the hub leave a 3/32" gap. Then install the washer, snap ring, and nut. Torque the nut to 14-26 ft. lbs. and the resulting gap should be .022-.057. Sorry if my first response was misleading.

Just going to throw a few more things out. Expert advice and I would like to expand on the .022 and .057.
Because the hub clutch was jigged by hand the hub plate that contacts the pulley was not true. There are 3 flat springs that were riveted to join the plate to the rubber section. After spinning all the hubs I deal with, at best they have a wobble. So in case a few are confused that read the procedure, .022 is the least you should have and .057 the most when measuring around the plate to pulley after it is installed. The closer to the .022 the better because when the magnet is turned on to pull the hub clutch against the pulley (metal to metal), it has to pull against the 3 springs and the farther away the weaker the pull. So in a nut shell if you measure .045 and .056 I would get it closer. There are no shims available to do this but wire can be made to fit as a shim to do this.
Also the clip that holds the 1/8" washer to the hub clutch has been eliminated because it only held the washer in place and the hub clutch could be removed without the clip being removed. Many re builders do not use the clip and use a different nut design. When I ordered nuts with the old part #s they were of the new design. We don't use the replacement hub clutches because they do not have the 6 holes or the 3 large openings that look like 3 large spokes. The new ones are actually better than the original. They turn very true when tested on the lathe.
