Does Changing From Fast to Slow Steering Impact Alignment?

My '63 has been in the fast steering position since I got it 35 years ago and I had always contemplated returning it to the normal position but never got around to it. Now that I am old and feeble my body is reminding me of the days when I was pretending to be an athlete, so I am finding it more difficult to maneuver it with the manual steering at low speed. To my thinking if I change the tie rod position with the car on our four post lift and the front wheels never move there should be no impact on the alignment. Some people however swear that I will still need to have a realignment done. Has anyone had any experience with this or have a definitive answer?

    Norm,
I had to change my 67 and the toe in needed to be adjusted.
Have you thought about adding power steering? I think if you did you would wonder why you never did it before.
    Kind Regards

Caster and camber are not affected, but you will have to reset toe-in, which should be easy to do with your lift and a tape measure.

If Norm's car is a 340 or 360 hp motor adding power steering isn't a viable option. The 6 quart pan is in the way.
And of course it wasn't a factory option with the special high performance motors.
If I had a 250 or 300 hp motor I would add power steering in a nano second.

          Norm,

I agree with Peter and Duke, it's a easy at home job but you are still going to need to check the toe in, which is also a easy job at home so don't hesitate doing it..

I changed from slow to fast decades ago. 'Gotta set toe then, too.
