Have to agree with John D if there is no one going there and it's dead how can there be a hotel problem and massive traffic jams around the fair grounds. Some of you guys could use a little frustration in your lives it might make young again! I won't stop having fun at these events even if it costs a couple bucks more your cars aren't worth what you paid 30 years ago either. QYB

Carlisle is a huge trucking hub with many major warehouses in the area. Traffic will always be a problem. Being a town with aging infrastructure designed at the last turn of the century does not help as well. So the traffic problem will never go away unless the fair grounds moves and has its own highway interchange.

Agree that I am getting grumpy over cost. Traffic does not bother me I arrive at 5 am. But I started coming to Carlisle when I was 24 and there were plenty of younger men there. Now it is the same men only we are not young anymore. Look around this year and see how many young people are there. I would hate to see it die simply because of money.
As far as hotel costs go its the same as Daytona 500 seating cut in half and barley 3/4 full but rooms are still 400 a night. Carlisle hotels the same they will charge top dollar until the goose is dead.

Latest weather report. I live near Pittsburgh, PA. Weather getting cooler here next week.
Here's the latest Weather report for Corvette Carlisle.
Thursday 74 and only 53 at night!!!
          Friday 78 59
          Saturday 80 61
Each day only 10% chance of rain. Talk about a great weather report. My vendor trailer has two generators and at least seven fans. Won't need them much.
Sunday 84. But old JD will be gone before 5PM Sunday.

Gene Manno, See you at the show. I am in the L90's.
See you all there. $20.00 entrance fee is not that much when you consider what CC has to offer. I must went to Wendy's with my son and spent 17.00 a little while ago. Take care friends, John D.

Keith. I got it from one of the posts here as I have no idea what gate cost is as never paid at the gate. Been a vendor forever at CC.
$15.00 is a deal. I won't be on this post anymore. Packing up big time. Thanks

Re: Carlisle - MAJOR TRAFFIC DELAYS

According to the Carlisle Events website it is $20 Thursday, Friday, Saturday and $10 on Sunday. A weekend pass is $40. I am assuming that is the walk-up price. If you buy on line it is $15 daily and $35 for the weekend pass, although there is a $6 service charge per transaction on line. There will be three of us going on Friday and Saturday so that is $120 total if we buy at the gate. Buying on line is $96 total including the service charge. I called them a couple of weeks ago and asked if there was a cut off for buying on line but they said I could purchase right up to the day of the show.

We have been going for 25+ years and have no intention to stop. We call it our traditional "Father/daughter bonding weekend" only this year her husband is tagging along too. We also look forward to meeting up with old friends we only see once a year. The $20 more than covers the savings in shipping, taxes, and brokerage fees for parts we buy and is only a small part of the trip cost. I figure that when the time comes I can't afford the $20 I can't afford the Corvette. But I also figure why pay $120 when we can pay $96?

Safe travels everyone, let's have a good time and not worry about 20 bucks, there are more important things going on in the world to fret about.

I try to look at the big picture. If you, like me, are able to afford the luxury of owning a corvette, love the hobby and are able to get to Carlisle, the few extra bucks can't be the issue. Travel safely and enjoy without being distracted by a few bucks. Hope to see any of you there. Have fun!!

I agree Tom, if you love the Corvette and you can get to Carlisle, you simply have to be there. Come hell or high water.

But at what point is it just greed? While I agree it’s a must see event but if I didn’t live so close I don’t know if I would go. I enjoy it like everyone else but greed is factor here. Let’s face it each year there is less and less vendors and the Corvette show is slowing becoming a circus and less of parts swapping. But with that said I can’t wait

It's a 1,000 mile round trip for me from Mass. I've been going since 1985 and it's my favorite 3 days of the summer. It's a bargain for what this event has to offer. Weather does look fantastic. Traffic on 81 does not look so great. I plan on getting through to Carlisle very early before the traffic gridlock starts. Looking forward to it as usual.

Paul. I am with you, its a weekend of hunting for hidden treasures, our wives would never understand what we do looking thought piles of junk, as they would call it. Where else in the world can one spend a few bucks for admission and get just any parts your looking for a vintage Corvette. Ebay parts are way over priced. Carlisle is a bargain weekend get away for us guys, yes the weather is sometimes a down side, Bring a hat and a umbrella and a good pair of walking shoes, some water and your all set.

As I said before, I've been going to Corvettes at Carlisle since 1987 and the year that I don't enjoy it and think it's well worth the time & expense, I'll stop going. We have always stayed at a nice hotel in Harrisburg - it's never crowded (although there are a LOT more Corvettes there than there used to be), it's a short commute to the fairgrounds, there are a ton of great restaurants and things to do, and the drive down to the fairgrounds from the north is usually pretty trouble-free. See you all there!

No complaints over here Gene! Dan and I will be there Thursday - Sunday. Rain or shine in K88.

Weather looks to be perfect, been looking forward to the event since last year.

Also quick point of the I-81 comment. That only affects hobbyist traveling northbound towards Carlisle. Anyone from the Northeast should not have the I-81 issue.

                              Drive safe all.
