Hopefully someone with a 79 car and/or Judging Manual will be able to tell if the tires are original type.

But you can check the DOT codes to see when they were made, and possibly might be original to the car. If so they might have value for a non-driven Bowtie type car.

Find a stamp or cast in letters that say "DOT". The numbers after that are the date code numbers you are looking for. It will be the last 3 or 4 digits in that stamp, perhaps something like 429, with could be the 42nd week of 1979 (or 69, or 89, or 99). Starting in 2000, the data code was a 4 digit code. Firts two digits are the week, last two digits are the year.

I would imagine that someone with a 79 would love to have those tires for flight judging. The date code is on the back side of the tire.

Here is a picture of my 79 taken in 1979 with the original tires. The tires sure look the same. Check the date code to be sure.
