      I think you've got the left side cover reversed. The oil fill orifice should be towards the rear. The smaller orifice (with the rubber grommet) should be towards the front. This orifice is where the AC CV-736C PCV valve is installed.

      Below is a photo of absolutely known original 1969 valve covers. These are exactly the same as 1970 (with the possible exception of attached wire clips).
