    1963-67 seats

If possible, is there a trick to remove both slide adjusments from the seat frame? Want to degrease, media blast and paint. Thanks in advance, Jack J.

Unscrew the bolts. They are a plated finish. Blast and paint would not be a good attack unless one disassembles them completely. Sand does not work well in a grease lubricated assembly with the slide rolling action.

Gene, thanks for the reply but how do you get the notched slider out of the tubular seat cushion frame? JJ

        Jack,

There are just 4 phillips head bolts which hold the sliders to the seat frame.

Below are some photos from my 67. The last one is using the sliders for a template for the carpets cuts (1967 only).

The tracks for a 67 have a dark gray primer, clean them up and put plenty of grease inside.

Jack, if the 64 is like the 63 they do not come out as they are welded in. What I did with the 63 was.... I bought 8 cans of CRC brake cleaner in the red rattle cans. After I had everything off the seats I used 5 cans to spray and clean the slides to remove all the junk and grease. After the seats were medial blasted I used 3 cans to remove the remaining media and any grease that I may have missed on the first pass. I then primed and painted the frames. When that was completed I rebuilt the seats, foam, vinyl, etc. The very last thing I did is grease the sliders. This is to avoid getty any new grease on you new foam and vinyl or leather. They have been working fine for 10 years.

          Good luck

Thank you Harry, that's the answer I was looking for since my car is a 64.

Corvette America has a good video on there web site that shows the disassembly and restoration of the seat frames.
