    C2 Search and Guidance

    Good Morning

I am looking to buy a C2 Roadster. I was wondering if someone could guide me with regards to what I should be alert to when looking at potential buys. Where should I look for rust, what other things should I be aware of, etc.? I am looking to spend between $40-50K and would like a solid driver, 327, manual.

    Thank you!

    Robert

Robert, I am sure you will get a lot of replies in this thread that contain a lot of great advice. You really asked a loaded question - and it would take a lot of key strokes to even just list & explain the most important points to consider. I notice that you are from PA and you are a Delaware Chapter member. Lots of good folks in that chapter and, by the way, we have a good number of PA residents in the Mid Atlantic Chapter. I would recommend asking a chapter member that has judged C2s a lot or one that owns a C2 to give you a one or two hour tutorial with the car present so they can point out the issues while explaining them. All that said, when you do find a C2 that "looks right to you" have it inspected by a C2 expert, even if you have to pay for the service - it will be money well spent. Good C2 hunting.

Great advice Ed. That will save Robert from making a costly mistake.

Robert, To have a car inspected properly will probably cost you some $$$. Don't be surpriced if you hear numbers in the $500.00 range or higher. It's better to spend $500.00 than not see a bad frame and end up spending $5000.00 to replace it.

          My advice is simple.
Don't purchase a car over the internet.
Go see it in person or pass.
