I do not believe that build sheets exist for Corvettes are available.

Build sheets began on Corvettes in 1967.

So is there any way of checking to see how the original car was ordered?

If you are lucky, engine date and option code might be typed on the warranty booklet, on the last page. I say lucky because the chances of that booklet being found (in the glove box or some prior owner's files) is quite low after all these years. I have seen just one, from a 1960 Corvette.

Mark, the only place information has been stored is in the NCRS system if the car has previously been judged. If the car has never been judged the original options are not known anywhere. This leads to all kinds of possibilities.

Probably should clarify that the practice of gluing the Corvette Order Copy began in 1967 and that this sales document differs from production documents. While it was named a tank sticker, this differs from what we know today as a buildsheet or the manifest. Buildsheets or production documents included the Broadcast and Chassis copies, for which a date of their origin has yet to be established. According to John Hinckley in his 2003 "Missing Link" article in the Corvette Restorer, the Corvette Order Copy is a sales document while the Broadcast and/or chassis copies are production documents.

However, Huff might be interested in a 1996 article by Curt Gifford titled "1959-1967 Window Stickers" in the Corvette Restorer...a retail document, required by Public Law 85-506 and enacted July 7, 1958. Gifford includes several images of those early window stickers and describes the 1959-67 Corvette document history. You can see that the history of Corvette sales and production documents is sparse.

The first buildsheet, or production document, the GMAD manifest was glued to the tank beginning in 1973, continued through 1982, superseded today by copies available through the National Corvette Museum.
