Why would anyone pay this much for this jack?

I don't understand why anyone would pay this much for this jack that was sold on e-Bay. Looks like a $20 jack to me...

21 people bid on that jack sold by the parts queen and she has nearly 10,000 positive feedbacks!

    Looks like 21 people understand!

A repro costs almost as much...and some solid axle jacks go for $1200+

This does not surprise me in the least.

The correct jack for a 1962 is even more than that!

Isn't Parts Queen, aka Vette Gal, Mary Jo ?

If so -- she knows to the third decimal place what her offerings are worth....

It is not a 53-61 jack missing the numbers, it is a common scissor jack craftily advertised, leading bidders to read what they want to read.
It is missing the numbers, and the correct base, and the correct lifting saddle, and the correct rivets, and.............

Exactly! Like the OP posted, "it's a $20 jack".

                Only two people were bidding.

If you look at the bids, three people bid on jack, two outbidding each other, What did P.T. Barnum say?

Someone is going to be really mad if they try to get that judged! It is a shame that someone has to do that kind of advertising to take advantage of someone trying to make their car better! But it is E-Bay and buyer should know what they are bidding on!

Hey! I just remembered that I too have a jack that I pulled out of storage. It was in a Corvette once, so it must be a Corvette jack, right? It has the coarse threads, so it must be for a '61 or '62, right? I'd be willing to sell it for $340.00 - any takers??

Just seems unusual that such a reputable dealer with nearly 10,000 positive feedbacks ( and no negatives), who has satisfactorily supplied many, many hundreds of Corvette owners including many NCRS members, would sell a misrepresented, bogus $20 jack and endanger her reputation that way.

                            Sirs
Looks exactly like my jack that I bought for my 1965 corvette in 1970! I bought it at Sears. 😃

About 25 or so years ago I bought a NEW scissor jack at a swap meet in Massachusetts. I paid $10 for it. The jack had a cast iron base with "SJ4653". The jack was painted red and had a "Western Auto" sticker on it. Also included was a very long handle that measured about 57" when unfolded with a "spoon" type end. The scissor jack was exactly the same as a 53-61 Corvette jack. Apparently Western Auto, an auto parts store back in the old days, bought their "universal" scissor jacks from the same company that made the 53-61 Corvette jack. The 57" handle was probably a truck handle. I sold the jack and handle for $300 to someone in Hawaii.
