I believe that the real tar top may judge better!

I recently bought a battery from Battery Central Mall (Jim's Batteries are their supplier) and asked myself the same question. Given what I've spent so far on my '60, I went for the tar top. Twenty bucks is just a drop in the bucket in comparison IMHO

dan: when will u need a battery for judging. I was fortunate to acquire one of dr ed guardian,s repos that ed offered in the early 80"s. this battery has a REAL tar top, has the bars the judges look for, and is filled with an acid . I'd be willing to lend it. I figure its got a couple years left in it(based on other dr ed's battery I bought and used in the 80's. this battery took no deductions when our airbox was judged and got its Duntov in Las Vegas. mike

I recently rebuilt my 7 year old Antique Battery for my 1960. I installed a new 400 CCA AGM battery in the car top repro case.

I recently ordered and received a restoration battery from Jims for the 57, looks good to me.
