If one wanted to "Trickle Charge" two small batteries (eg.>Scooter Batteries) from one Charger(Has automatic shut off) would you

Parallel, but only if the Voltages of the two batteries are identical and are the same as the Voltage rating of the float charger.

Two batteries One charger is not recommended batteries need to be isolated from each other theoretically. if you want to try it --- parallel is the only option

        Such a generalization isn't accurate.

Whether or not the two batteries can be sustained by one float charger depends on the sum of the leakage drains of the two batteries compared to the current sourcing ability of the charger. If the charger can sustain the current, there won't be a problem.

I've maintained the two batteries in my Diesel Dodge from one adequately capable charger for years. The two batteries are hardwired together, no isolation. And no problem.

Same with the wife's 2016 Durango, apparently the "auto start" function requires an add'l battery - looks like a motorcycle battery in parallel with the main battery (weird) - both are charged by the alternator -- or a maintenance charger when needed...

Every one of my vehicles "auto start", but sometimes they just won't.
