Re: early 63 FI plenum lid without the cross flags
Doc, 63 Corvette shop manual. Page 6M-38 Fig 77. Next page Fig 81.
With my NCRS fuel injection contact high paying job I get calls like this one.
My pride and joy was a '63 sandcast unit Doc. Tag said #3. Not 1003 by just 3. I will always miss that unit. Not sure if I should say who bought it from me.
It was correct except for the baseplate. #3. should have had a baseplate with no provision to screw in the water pump by pass fitting. I have since picked that part up.
Also Doc look in Nolands book. Page 133. My all time favorite pic of an early '63 pilot car engine compartment. Large photo too.
I have a photo from a Grady David Gulf Research FI unit but the unit has been messed with.
The winterleaf snowflake area not visible as the photo is very faint now. Been under my desktop glass for many years. I think Franz Estericher gave it to me. Or maybe Eric Gill in the old days. It has a later baseplate on it.
Plenum lids. In my lifetime I have only seen two. One on my old unit and one at Corvette Carlisle in late 80's. It was sitting on the front seat along with the bare sandcast plenum of a saddle saddle '63 that was for sale.
That lid was held on with blackened allen head bolts. Some have disputed this info but I am going to stick with it as that what Gradys unit and #3 have and also the one of my 77 of Nolands book. John- Top
