    Pat,

This is the information from my 1964 Corvette built January 18, 1964 (E18). It includes the first edition of the owners guide. It's has been through all levels of flight judging as recent as 2014 and received no deductions for the glove box info. I know the self-adjusting brake pamphlet is not a original item but I went ahead and included it. I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    James West

      James,

Good stuff. My car was built the 24th of January and has the Second Edition Owners Guide. Others have later build dates with First Edition Owners Guide. Not sure about GM’s FIFO? Your plastic envelope looks great. Mine is showings its age. What date do you have on the back of the plastic envelope? Mine shows January 1963. Thanks for sharing.

Many reports of original, one owner second editions owners manuals. I don't recall the dates provided, but that might help you determine some estimation of the cut off. i doubt seriously if there was a clearly defined cutoff. In other words, I would suggest that there was an overlap of first and seconds distribution. What is very clear is that the judging manual is wrong to say that there was only a first edition. I would have the car judged with one of each and see what response you get. My bet is you still won't come away with a definitive answer. Good luck.

I AGREE. If the dealer was low on inventory, they, [ meaning we grunts ] grabbed the one in the parts department. I worked at a CHEVY DEALERSHIP back in the day. As a salesperson, we were responsible to supply all the paperwork in the plastic envelope. We gave the WARRANTEE PROTECTO info to the finance person. HE /SHE completed it, and gave all this info to the buyer at check out. I reviewed it with the buyer before they checked out with finance.

Just to clarify all glovebox items after mid 1961 were installed in St. Louis. As Jim says the dealer completed the Owners protection Plan either by typing the Owners information prior to 1964 or after 1964 (65) they added the buyers name with GM logo tape onto the POP.
