Re: Briggs Cunningham Corvette sale
Not much.
Based on looking at the car when it was on display at Bloomington a few years ago, you're going to buy another 1960 and swap VIN plates.
Both ends of the car have been so heavily modified that you "might" save the underlying structure but you won't save the exterior panels.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: Briggs Cunningham Corvette sale
I agree, it should be left alone as a barn find of a wrecked, beat up, totaled out old race car. No reason to make it even less honest than it already is.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Briggs Cunningham Corvette sale
Patrick, even easier, vin tag is spot welded on the steering column so just 3 bolts at the frame, unscrew the Draglink cap to pop the Pitamn out, and a couple of bolts under the dash........ and column is Out!Not much.

Allegedly in was in fact a barn find over 12 years ago HERE. No one knew what it was then.
More bathroom reading HERE too.
Hmmm, The IRS too!- Top

"Boca Raton customizer" is a generous label for the guy who butchered this car.
I can't imagine his intention or possible motive.Mark Edmondson

Re: Briggs Cunningham Corvette sale
Perhaps it's time to add some perspective, 61 years later, to what occurred. In 1960/1/2, we have Last Year's Wrecked Race car, purchased by a friend, Perry Boswell, who among other things is a Florida cattle rancher. He knows Briggs and Willie Fricke, is a user/owner/car guy accustomed to Facel-Vegas, BAT styling ALFAs, 300 SLs and, by all indications, had $$ and the willingness to spend it on his rides. His first confrontation is that the car requires a front end - is there not someone out there that might opt for a single headlight fender (extended), with the coves in fenders/doors fillled in? Reworking the hardtop is no hill for someone looking for a "one-off". Interior, too easy. Rear view, make the guy guess what's in front of him! Mr. Boswell is not responsible for the $$$ spouted by others with "SALES" in mind. He wanted a car that was HIS. But what cannot be taken from the car 60 years later is that, within the Technical Inspection Race Records of the Automobile Club de l'Quest are but FIVE VINs of straight-axle Corvettes that have lapped that venue. Five.- Top

It does not matter what the car looks like. This chassis is part of Corvette history and the right person will bring it back to its correct condition.Perhaps it's time to add some perspective, 61 years later, to what occurred.
