'67 L71 Correct Engine images
I am looking for some help. I have a '67 L71 built mid to late June '67. The car has never been restored, only maintained. After owning it for 20 years, while a fun driver, I am going back and trying to correct things that were done to it along the way. It has the wrong valve covers and the temperature sensor and wire seem to be located incorrectly. I would appreciate images of the engine of an L71 that has been judged as correct. Particularly looking for what correct valve covers look like, and the routing of the temp sensor wire and placement of the sensor itself. Thanks in advance.

Danny
Sorry for the delay - household duties!
If it is not too much trouble, I would appreciate two more photos - one of the temp sending wire as it attaches to the sensor and the actual location of the sensor. It appears to be inserted into the intake itself. My sensor has been relocated because I don't have the correct intakenor valve covers I believe. Would also like a view of the right hand valve cover. I have located a pair of used originals, but they are tough to find, not in great shape and expensive. As I said I am trying to make things right under the hood, but this is not a full restoration project. Just trying to make a really nice old car as right as I reasonably can. The next keeper can restore it.

Danny - These show me exactly what I needed to confirm. This was how I pictured it to be, but wanted to be sure before I proceed with my search for the correct pieces. Thanks so much.- Top

Re: '67 L71 Correct Engine images
Keep in mind the original valve covers were spot welded and the weld marks are discernible from the top of the valve cover. While reproductions have done a decent job to replicate the look, the "step" on the outer circumference of the covers is different than that on an original valve cover. Also, the Tonawonda decal is applied to the valve cover PRIOR to it being painted so it should be in the paint, not on top of the paint. ARA- Top

Thanks Ara I was aware of the spot weld marks correctly being visible. I was not aware of the placement of the Tonawonda sticker prior to painting. I will keep those two points in mind as I search.
