Wiring route for inst panel harness

    Guys,

I'm getting ready to install my interior on my 69 coupe non-AC 4 sped car and wanted to attach the harness to the inst panel prior to install. I sent out my gauges to be restored and they returned with the wire harness loops in the positions seen in the pics. Problem is I can't see how that can be correct. It makes it very difficult to reach all the bulbs and gauges if I take that route. I've looked at the AIM and it seems to show the harness traveling along the bottom of the gauge clusters which would make more sense but then where do I move the harness loops too? Any help is appreciated.

    Mike

The harness on 68, 69 and part of 1970 production ran down and up and over the steering column like you show. The wire harness loops bolt on the lower part of the gages, Assembly Manual UPC 12 Sheet B5 shows where they are located.

Routing this way makes it difficult to push the steering column into position, which you will find out.

In mid- to late 1970 production, they routed the harness up and over the top of the gages.

Thanks Gary. I figured they must have mistakenly put those harness straps up top. Now I understand why. Thanks.
