      I believe that the Julian date coding (4 digits) did not start until after 1972.
      "793" would be 1967, Sept., 3rd week.

              I believe that your "3606" Holley carb dated "793" is a service carb. My NOTES indicate that service Holley carbs used the 4-digit Julian date coding starting in 1973.

                  So another curve ball is a 3892341 3606 main body currently on eBay with a 2219 date code... is it possibly a fake?

                      Julio, there is so much red disclosure text by that seller saying 'they have no idea of what they are selling, and that it is a service date' that you should have no need to ask that question. 20 maybe 10 year back there were some really sloppy date stamping happening so if it doesn't match a known benchmark original, why bother chasing the part.

                          I have no idea where I got the information that the 4-digit Julians date coding started in 1973 as it was many years ago.
                          GM # 3892341 was removed from service in July 1973 as per Chevrolet Parts History. Based on that maybe the "3606" Holley carb (GM # 3892341) dated "2219" is the 221st of 1969. In either case, what does it matter? In 1966 the Julian date coding did not exist for Holley carbs.

                              Thanks for the info. It sounds like both the main body and the carb in my possession will not be correct for my application. Back on the hunt again!

                                  Refer to "1965-69 Chevrolet by the numbers" (page 137) and "1970-75 Chevrolet by the numbers" (page 129) both by Alan L. Colvin.
                                  3-digit Holley date coding from 1965 to 1972
                                  4-digit Holley date coding from 1973 to 1975
